Corrugated cardboard Pavilion

Universidad Iberoamericana
José Luis Rangel

The pavilion explores the structural and fabrication potential of a lightweight, rapidly assembled shell constructed entirely from corrugated cardboard panels—without the need for mechanical fasteners, sub-structures, auxiliary joints, or complex fabrication techniques. This approach aims to demonstrate the capabilities of cardboard as a viable structural material for temporary, low-impact architectural interventions.

The proposed Pavilion will consist of 170 single-wall F-flute corrugated cardboard panels, each weighing approximately 60 grams, resulting in a total structural weight of just 10.2 kg. The tool-free assembly can be completed in under 30 minutes, making it ideal for rapid deployment and straightforward disassembly. After the exhibition, the pavilion will be dismantled and returned to Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City for further research and potential reuse.
